At this moment our job is nearly finished,for our publisher is printing and binding the book. Theo, Derk and the translators Johan and Marianne are very satisfied (and also a little bit proud) about the way it looks. We expect to post it at the end of June so you will receive it shortly afterwards. So look forward to this unique book which will be titled SOMSEN Omnes Generationes The Latin sub-title will be explained in the book, but perhaps you can imagine what the meaning is by now. If you are as much enchanted by this family-book as we are, you can order one or more copies for your relatives and friends. At this moment about 100 copies are still for sale. Where do the 411 reunionists come from?

SATURDAY AUGUST 9th, 1997
You're welcome from 9.30 a.m. at the inn Erve Kots in Lievelde (phone: + 31 544 371691). Please be present before 10.15 for the official programme starts at 10.45. Parking is no problem and for the route to Erve Kots see the end of this Newsletter. When you arrive you will receive an envelope containing: the programme-booklet, your badge, your restaurant-coupon and (if ordered) your Somsen Panorama-video. Please check the contents of your envelope.

Reunion-committee
You can recognize the members of the Reunion-committee by their white badge and red peasant's neck-handkerchief.

Badge
If you wear your badge very clearly it will make your contacts during the reunion easier. On your badge are mentioned: your call-name, your family-name and (if necessary) your maiden-name. Also your unique personal-number is printed on the badge. Under this number you are mentioned in our genealogy and in the family-book. The colour of the badges indicates the main countries of origin.

Restaurant-coupon
You are asked to hand in this coupon when you are going to use the buffet at 6.00 p.m.

Drinks
On your arrival the welcome-drinks like coffee, tea or soft-drinks are free. All the drinks later on are on own's own account.

Programme-booklet
In this booklet the programme and activities for August 9 and 10 are given. Also the Somsen-activities for the next week are mentioned.

Information-desk
At the information-desk you can book for the Somsen-activities in the next week. Also the remaining copies of the family-book Somsen Omnes Generationes and the family-video Somsen Panorama are for sale at the information-desk (and perhaps even in the hamlet of IJzerlo at camping ' t Hoftijzer).

Somsen-relationship by Personal Computer
During the Somsen-market in the afternoon there's an opportunity for you to print out your relation to each family-member you wish. Derk Somsen is willing to serve you with his family-database, PC and printer. Note:John Howard Somsen will also have his PC at the market to show the WWW Somsen home pages.

First Aid and Medical Care
On Saturday a doctor and some first aid-members will be present.

Camping 't Hoftijzer in IJzerlo
The Reunion-committee will be present at Camping 't Hoftijzer in the hamlet of IJzerlo (Aalten) from Thursday August 7th until Friday 15th. From these headquarters they control the activities as mentioned in the programme-booklet. You can reach them by their mobile phone: + 31 6 53 93 1834 (Dick Somsen) or by phone: + 31 543 466693 If you want to visit them: drive to IJzerlo, take notice of the signs and the flag Somsen-camping and enter the camping from the side of the 'Dinxperlosestraatweg'.

SUNDAY AUGUST 10th, 1997
The Memorial-meeting in the Dutch Reformed Church (St.Helena) at the market-place of Aalten starts at 2.00 p.m. Parking is no problem. After this meeting we are leaving for IJzerlo to plant a lime-tree at the Japikshuis. Aaltjen Somsen who was the first Somsen to emigrate to the USA in 1847, lived at this farmstead. Follow the signs and flags to the Japikshuis, Rengelinkweg 5. After this official closing-act of the reunion we will drink some coffee, tea and soft-drinks at the nearby camping 't Hoftijzer.
